Better Communication Channels
Extended Live Chat
Due to the COVID pandemic, many of our international students and friends are not live in Canada, which makes them harder to connect with the university when in urgent matters. The current Live Chat system is not working to solve the needs of them.

I will propose a plan to extend Live Chat hours and improve the system to the Governing Council, allowing all students to get in touch with the school staff/representative in instant messaging style chat instead of emailing back and forth, wasting the precious time.
Department Communication
We need to make sure that not only the students are able to reach to the administration/registrar office, their belonging faculty/department is also critical. The current communication system falls heavily on the Email channel which is lacking the efficiency.

I will propose a multi-platform channels in addition to Email and this will allow the flexibility and relieve the email burden.

Extended hours of faculty/department live chat will also be available to suit the needs of overseas students under the virtual settings. I believe this will also benefit local students.
Investing in Multiple Platforms
We are now all taking online classes and school is not going to open for returning at least to September 2021 this year. We need to have multiple social platforms that student can reach out to school besides email because not every student are custom to current platforms.

Investing in multiple social platforms and messaging app will allow the university adapts to the current situation and different student bodies of the diversity in the UofT community.

We need to have this done this year as soon as possible in order to benefit all of us in a virtual setting, effective connection to the school.
Quick Response
The current average response time from varies communication channel whether it is social media or email, it takes about 3 to 5 business days. This greatly affects the efficiency of connections and among most of the students that I have talked to, their urgent needs were not met on time.
I will put forward a plan to add more communication channel and greatly shorten the response time on each channels, making sure that all students get the response fast and precise through all platforms and extended live chat.
