Plans for Internship

Referral Program

UofT's alumni are among the best in all Canadian universities in every area. One of the key factors of job seeking is alumni referral because first, it gives you credibility and second, you show your passion for the industry. Being hired at multiple big corporations like CGI Inc. and TD Bank Group, I know how important a referral can be.

I am going to work closely with the Alumni Association to develop the referral program for all students in all faculties and departments. This will be made available to all students this year and the program can expect to cover all three campuses.

Universal Internship Plan

Different campuses offer different internship opportunities, for example, UTSG offers PEY mainly for engineering students and UTSC has campus-wide CO-OP program. I believe that internship experience is essential for undergraduate students and can build their resume.

I believe that everyone should access the job portal and apply for a 4-month and up to 12-month internship. A particular opportunity should not be only offering to a particular faculty but rather, open to all undergraduate students. We need a universal internship plan across campuses.

I will be working with multiple departments within the university, including the Career Centre, Employment Relations and Alumni Association, to develop a detail internship plan.

The internship should not be a privilege for particular faculty, it should be every UofT students' privilege. I am ready to fight for you and get the plan done.

Networking for All

We have pasted the era of standardising application. This decade is about personality and is who you are. The GPA only determine if you have the proper training but your personality and how you communicate will your path to success. That is why networking is so important for us because we can show recruiters our enthusiasm and who we are beside the cold GPA on the resume. Furthermore, all industry values networking.

I am going to work closely with the Employment Relations department to organize varies networking events throughout the school years for every faculties and department.

Strong Career Centre Resource

The Career Centre is not using the resources to its full potential during this pandemic and helping as many students as it can due to the virtual setting. When compared to other university's career centre, it lacks weekly career insight and industry notification for students. It matters to me that UofT is the best university in Canada and students cannot benefit from the career centre. It matters to me that a lot of students graduated with not even two internship experiences.

This matters to me because we are all part of the community, we are all look out for each other and hope for the best of each other. I am going to change this by working closely with all three campuses. I will fight for the changes and the future of ours.
